A Story of Tragedy, Perserverance & Triumph

PhotobucketNBA player Leon Powe (who plays for championship team the Boston Celtics) has had a true rags to riches story. Fatherless at 2, homeless at 7, his mother, Connie Landry, died when he was a high school junior, and he’s had two major knee reconstructions.

“Sometimes, I wonder if I’m even supposed to be here,” Powe says. “But my mother had that will to survive. I think that’s what I have in me.”

ESPN/ABC recently filmed a short biographical film about Leon’s life struggles and how he overcame the obstacles in his life by focusing on his goal and never giving up. Check out his inspirational story below:
