COOKING 101: Pound Cake Done 2 Easy Ways
OOEY GOOEY POUND CAKE SANDWICH
Ingredients
pound cake (4 slices cut crosswise)
Nutella
Peanut butter
Bananas (thinly sliced)
servings: 2
Directions
Spread a thick layer each of nutella, smooth peanut butter and thinly sliced bananas between two pieces of pound cake. It’s that simple!!!
STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE
Ingredients
pound cake (4 slices cut crosswise)
8 strawberries
2 teaspoons sugar
8 tablespoons whipped cream
2 tablespoons whipped cream cheese
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
sliced almonds, toasted
servings: 4
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Remove the stems from the strawberries. Slice into thin (1/4″ to 1/8″) slices. Combine strawberries and sugar in a bowl. Set aside at room temperature to macerate (which means that the sugar will soften the strawberries and help release their juices). Combine whipped cream, whipped cream cheese, and vanilla extract. Place the pound cake slices on a large heavy baking sheet and toast in oven for 7 to 10 minutes until the slices turn golden brown (NOTE: you can also toast the pound cake slices in an electric toaster until golden). Place 1 cake slice on each plate. Spoon the strawberries and cream mixture atop the cake slices. Sprinkle toasted almonds on top. Enjoy!
