SURVEY RESULTS: Lying To Your Parents!
There’s tons of pressure that comes along with the role of being a teen. Although you know the rules, sometimes you break them to test your independence or to fit in with your strongest influences – your peers. So you live a life that your parents may not be totally aware of. When you get older, you and your parents grow closer and your parent/child relationship grows into a true friendship. So we recently asked our TDO members the following… Although your strict guardian’s may soon turn into your best buds, what is one childhood secret you would always keep from them? RESULTS ➫
Less than 3% say that you could never tell your parents you took joy rides in their car.
Add a few more and 4.5% say they would never tell that they snuck out of the house after your curfew.
29.5% would never tell their folks that they experimented with illegal drugs (or drinking and/or smoking cigarettes).
“I wish that I could mark two because two of them are things that I would want to keep from my parents. I lost my virginity (my mother knows but not my father), and I am a drinker. (neither one of them know) I do not plan on revealing this to them.” Schae, 17 (South Carolina)
And the biggest secret kept from parents…
63.6% say they would NEVER tell their parents they lost their virginity.
