MTV Premieres “Teen Mom” December 8th, 2009
MTV is releasing an all-new docu-series Teen Mom, which premieres on Tuesday, December 8th at 10pm ET/PT. The series catches up with four girls: Maci, Amber, Catelynn and Farrah, from the cast of the first season of “16 And Pregnant” to give viewers a deeper look at the lives of teenage parents. Told by each girl first hand, the series will depict the varied challenges young mothers face. Check out the trailer above and some interesting statistics about teen pregnancy ➫

1. According to the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy, one out of every ten children in the United States is born to a teenage mother and about one quarter of all teen moms have a second child within two years, making it difficult to get an education or escape poverty.
2. Children born to teen parents are more likely to repeat the cycle and become teen parents themselves.
3. Despite the availability of sex education and access to contraception, the United States continues to have the highest rate of teen pregnancy and teen birth in the entire developed world.
